DIY Children’s Nativity with Baby Jesus, Mary & Joseph

How sweet is this Holy family of Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus? If you are like me, I am always looking for ways to bring back the true meaning of Christmas during the season. With just a few items, this little set is so easy to make and would be a great craft for little ones as well as adults.

As shown above, I used two wood dowels for the bodies. I chose to use one a little bigger than the other to give some height to Joseph. Dowels can be found at any local craft store or home improvement store and the home improvement store will cut it for you.
I cut the larger one to 4 1/2 inches and the smaller one at 3 1/2 inches.
The small little dowel can be found in the wood craft section at Hobby Lobby. It looked perfect for the head of baby Jesus and it even looks like he has a crown.
The two wooded beads can be found at Hobby Lobby or Amazon.

The Apple Barrel in the color Khaki was used for the body of Joseph and the Martha Stewart in the color Surf was used for the body of Mary. The DecoArt glorious gold was used for the crown of Jesus. I left all of the faces natural.

For the next step, hot glue the wood beads to the top of the wood dowels. I put a drop of hot glue to attach baby Jesus to Mary.
I used some scrap fabric that I already had for Mary and a scrap piece of burlap for Joseph. Once I had the fabric in place I placed a bead of hot glue to keep Mary and Joseph together. Tie a piece of twine and that is it!

How cute did this turn out?? Little ones will love to make this and it brings to life the story of our Lord and Savior’s birth. I hope you will try this and I would love to see pictures!
Many blessings to you and yours.
