DIY Cloths Pin & Mop Manger
The most important birth happened in a lowly manger. Oftentimes, Christmas is the only time we display the manger scene. But why? This DIY manger is perfect to display anytime of the year on a coffee bar, tiered tray and is also the perfect conversation starter!
Supply List:

1-Wood Star (Dollar General Craft Isle), Raffia (Walmart or Hobby Lobby), String Mop (Dollar Tree), Muslin Fabric (Hobby Lobby), White Sheet or Fabric, 3- Jenga Blocks (Dollar Tree), 1-Wood Rejoice (Hobby Lobby) 1 Sign Measures 10X10 (can be any size), Twine and Hot Glue Gun, Apple Barrel Paint (Black)
The first step is to paint your sign black if your sign is not black already.
Cut apart three pieces from the mop head. Take a piece of tape (I used painters tape) to tape together the three pieces. Once taped and in place braid the three pieces together. Tape the end of the braided pieces and lay aside.
Mary’s hair is made from three- four inch pieces of twine or jute. Hot glue the three pieces to the top of the wood cloths pin, then braid.
For Mary’s robe, cut a 5 inch square of muslin. I began by folding the muslin to create a hem and hot glued together. Hot glue the hemmed muslin to the top of the cloths pin. Wrap the muslin fabric around the cloths pin and hot glue to secure. Tie off with a piece of twine.
Repeat the process with Joseph.
For baby Jesus use a small wood doll body. https://amzn.to/3TPaAg1 Wrap the white cloth (mine was an old sheet) around the wood body and hot glue.
Now we begin hot gluing all the pieces into the sign. Begin with removing the tape from the mop and hot glue the braid onto the sign. Create a peak for the top of the barn.
We will be using three jenga pieces from Dollar Tree. Hot glue two pieces at an angle and then one across the top to create a manger.
Begin hot gluing Joseph and Mary in place. Make sure to place the hot glue down the side of the figures not on the back. This will allow them to be looking at the baby Jesus once placed. Separate the raffia and roll in a ball in your hand. Hot glue on top of the jenga piece. Next hot glue baby Jesus on the raffia.
Hot glue the wood star upon the manger and also the Rejoice wood cutout to the two corners of the wood sign. The final step is to take a piece of twine and create a staff for Joseph. Begin by hot gluing at the bottom of his robe upwards towards his head. Make a curve for the top of the staff and that is it!
How precious is this and the colors are so neutral that it can be used all year and with any decor color.
