Mother’s Day Gift Idea

Looking for a unique gift idea for Mother’s Day or for a friend? This sweet diy tea cup pin cushion is perfect! Each item at Goodwill or estate sales have a story and when I seen this beautiful tea cup, I wondered what stories this little cup could tell. I knew that I had to bring it home and try and repurpose it.

Here are the supplies that you will need:
1-Dryer Ball (Yup.. you heard right.) This pack was from Wal-mart
Tea Cup (Goodwill, Estate Sales, Yard Sale) or one of your own
Lace Ribbon, White Ribbon, Rope, Bag of Pearls – All from Dollar Tree
Flower Picks- Hobby Lobby, Goodwill etc.
Fabric- This is personal preference. I found this pillow sham at Goodwill. It looks vintage but it is not.
Hot Glue and Fabric Bonder (Walmart is where I found the gun and sticks)

First step is cut the fabric into a square twice the size of the ball. Fold the fabric (one corner at a time) and use the fabric bonder to hold in place. Continue to do this all the way around. Cut any excess fabric away from the bottom and hotglue into cup.

This rope is from Dollar Tree. Unbraid the rope and hot glue one strain around the inside top of the cup. (See next picture)

Next use fabric sure bonder to glue the lace over the rope.

These pearls are from Dollar Tree. I used the fabric sure bonder to glue the pearls onto the lace. Hot glue can also be used.

Flowers are really personal preference. I will explain where I try and find mine when I am out thrifting. Look at the flowers at Goodwill. Even if you hate how they are arranged look at the quality of them. I find really good ones there at times. Yard sales are a great place too. Dollar Tree, Hobby Lobby and Michaels are always my backups.

I used just a few near the handle of the tea cup along with ribbon. For the ribbon, I cut the ribbon about an inch, fold and use fabric sure bond to glue ends together. Hot glue in the cup.

Pearl straight pins for decoration on the top and that is it! How cute is this? I hope that you enjoyed this sweet idea. Would love to know your thoughts.
Blessings to you and yours.
