Hold On!

Have you ever seen something that was so unusual that made you say “Hold on a minute”? That something that made you ask the questions like how did that come to be, or how is that even possible?
When you take a look at these ferns growing out of this brick on the side of a building numerous feet off the ground, those questions certainly come to mind.
I mean plants need soil to grow their roots, don’t they? The question begs to differ in this picture where there is no apparent soil nor is there a water source for the roots to pull from but yet they are persevering.
Oftentimes, life is just this way. Just like these ferns, circumstances that surround us are imperfect and the conditions are not what we expected nor desire but we have a choice either to persevere or become bitter and complacent.
All of us at one time or another, plan the way our life should look. What goals we want to accomplish, the dreams we wish will come true, and the planning to make it all happen.
The hardest thing to learn is life is not in our control. Things happen that set us back, take us down a different road and often times in a complete different direction.
When we learn to “grow” where we are planted, then we see that our conditions and circumstances, even tho may not look the way they should, we keep on growing anyway.
Others will see you as the exception to the rule and their perception about their conditions will change and help them to grow as well.
Life is what we make of it, so go and persevere anyway. Your roots will thank you.
