Thirty Three Years-The Road to the Cross

Easter is celebrated once a year. Many talk about the three days at Easter being the crucifixion, death and resurrection. These events although the most important for the redemption from sin, these events did not take Jesus by surprise. He knew before his birth what he was to endure. The depth of His love for us is unfathomable. There are many scriptures of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit being one Deity. In Colossians 2:9 it says ” For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.” Also in John 17:20-21 says, “That they all may be one; as thou, Father art in me, and I in thee that they also may be one in us.” 1 Peter 1:19 ” But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you.”
I have often wondered what it would have been like to walk with Jesus, as the disciples did, to communicate with him in person. They followed a man, the Christ, who walked on this earth, with the weight of the world upon His shoulders, yet the disciples did not nor could not understand that weight. How incredible is our God.
Many followed Christ in those days to find peace, comfort, healing, and hope, much like many of us do today. The world has been broken since the garden, yet God mended what was broken by sending his Son.
Jesus understood his purpose here on this earth, to save mankind, to endure the cross. Understanding that Jesus knew from the beginning that he was to die for us, shed his blood for us, to make a way for us makes Easter all the more special. He knew. In John 12:23 Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.”
The hour has come. So all the hours before… the period of his childhood, the teachings in the temple, the preparations, the parables, the miracles, the continuous questions from others, the unbelief and not too mention all the enemy’s tactics, shows just how willing Jesus was to fulfill His purpose and endure to the end. Remember although He was the Son of God, he was human, which is often overlooked.
He understood heartache, death, disease, poverty, pain and suffering, yet with all that, he continued down the road that led to the cross anyway. Jesus understood that the cross was the only way for you and I to be redeemed, to be saved by His grace. It was His grace and willingness to spill his blood, as a removal of our sins to purify, and rectify all the wrongs no matter how severe.
The world may only see the three days that led to the resurrection, but our God was behind the scenes all along orchestrating every moment. Christ can and will do the same for you. Lay down your burden and pick up your cross and follow him. He promises although at times it will be difficult, we never walk alone. We too have hope. Our walk may look uncertain at times, but rest assure, Jesus knows the way.
The death on the cross was not the end. Celebrate each day as a sweet reminder that although Easter is but three days, Christ endured thirty-three years to make His way to the cross.
The cross is the tipping point for all mankind. What the enemy meant for defeat, God turned into a VICTORY!
If you would like to accept Christ, he will meet you right where you are. Romans 10:9-10 states “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him for the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
Sinners Prayer- Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. Amen
Blessings,
Vicki
