Drawing a Line in the Sand

As the new year approaches, thoughts of new beginnings, fresh calendars, and the excitement of what the new year will bring.
Goals are being set and plans are being made to accomplish this or that but what if? What if we begin by agreeing not to begin. No planning, no anticipations, no goals, nothing.
Not yet.
To be clear, goals are essential and a way to help humankind strive to obtain a prize.
The prize of wealth, a home, a new car, a great job? To lose weight, to gain fame, to have a “perfect” life with the “perfect” companion? None are bad in and of itself but perspective is the key and “perfect” in this fallen world can not be obtained.
This is where the line in the sand is so important or self absorption will be inevitable.
How does one navigate? Where does one start?
The beginning. A new beginning in a new year with the one who knows the complete plan. The perfect plan. The plan that will make our paths straight. The unique plan He made just for you and another for me.
John 8:6, KJV: “This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.”
Jesus, the human nature of his mother and the divine nature of his Father took the time to stoop down and wait for instruction from the heavenly Father.
The one who speaks and miracles happen. The one who made the heavens and the earth. The one who placed the stars in the sky and knows them all by name. Psalms 147:4
The one who gave his son to be born in a manger and die on a cross.
The Great Shepherd. The Great I AM. The Beginning and the End. The soon coming King!
Begin this new year in submission before the King.
Our goals do not matter if they are not His goals, His thoughts and His plan. Where to begin? On our knees before Him.
“Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” Psalms 37:4
May this new year bring joyful beginnings, peaceful memories and a deeper walk with our Lord and Savior.
Blessings to you and yours,
Vicki
