Wood Nativity Set From Dollar General

Look how cute this wood nativity set is from Dollar General. If you see this in your local store make sure you grab it because they will be gone!
Each wood piece can be stained or painted and with just a few easy steps, you too can create this sweet piece for a tiered tray, coffee bar, mantel and so much more!
It is also perfect for kids!

I chose to both paint and stain mine so pictured above is what I used. The paint choice is the white Folk Art Home Decor Chalk Paint along with Waverly Wax Antique to stain each piece.
If you have seen some of my crafts before then you know I love texture so this rope from Dollar Tree is the perfect width to add some super cute detail. Grab your glue gun and lets have some fun!

First step if staining is to do all the pieces at one time. I did not stain inside each slat of the base.
Next I took some of the white chalk paint and dry brushed each piece. Dry brushing is super simple. Add a small amount of paint to the tip of your brush and then wipe any excess off on a paper towel. Move the brush across each of the pieces lightly applying the paint randomly. Make sure you apply in the same direction. The paint can be applied heavy or light depending on what look you are going for. I wanted mine to be rustic and look worn so I applied a small amount of paint.
Applying the rope just sets the manager apart from the other pieces.
This is super easy as well. What I chose to do is add the rope to the “walls and roof” of the manger. I chose to cut the wall pieces and apply them on the walls and then the roof. This gives the distinction between each of those as well.

The next step is your final step! Add your pieces in whatever order you chose. Look how sweet this came out. If you want to add the look of straw then cut some raffia into pieces and use hot glue. Moss can also be used.
I hope that you will try this and let me know!
